ESCAPE FROM MOS SHUUTA
It is a period of unrest and opportunity in the galaxy. The Galactic Empire struggles to maintain control in the midst of civil war. Meanwhile, scoundrels and smugglers, explorers and expatriates, and fringers of all types scramble for a living on the edges of galactic civilization It is a hard life, but these renegades have more freedom and opportunity than any citizen of the Core Worlds.
On the desert world of TATOOINE, a few such renegades have run afoul of a local crime boss, TEEMO THE HUTT. Trapped in the tiny spaceport of Mos Shuuta, the renegades have no choice but to steal a starship and flee Teemo's forces. Fortunately, a suitable starship has recently docked at the landing bay: a freighter called the KRAYT FANG, captained by a Trandoshan slaver named Trex. As they flee through the suns-baked streets, the renegades duck into the local cantina to hide from their pursuers...

Gritty Adventures in the Star Wars Universe
Engage in grim and gritty adventures in places where morality is gray and nothing is certain. Ply your trade as a smuggler in the Outer Rim, collect bounties on the scum that live in the shadows of Coruscant, or try to establish a new colony on a planet beneath the Empire’s notice. Experience life in the shadiest and most remote locations in the Star Wars universe.
Explore locations where the Empire’s laws and influence are dimmed or muted. Meet shady characters, independent thinkers, and insurgents looking to break free of Imperial law.
Who Do You Owe?
All characters begin with an Obligation that compels them forward. You may owe thousands of credits to a Hutt, or you may have a bounty on your head. Perhaps, you’re still trying to kick a nagging stim addiction. You may even be bound by a sense of duty, looking for every opportunity to aid the Rebels who saved your family from a Stormtrooper brigade.
A unique Obligation mechanic to hook you into its stories and to define the smugglers, scoundrels, outlaws, and other souls willing to assume the risks inherent with adventures in the galaxy’s most shadowy locations. You can work to fulfill your Obligation, or you can take on new Obligations. But beware, everyone’s got a past, and characters’ pasts have a way of catching up with them.
Teemo the Hutt is the de facto ruler of Mos Shuuta, a small city on the desert world of Tatooine. He is a Hutt crime lord of considerable influence, thanks to his relation to the illustrious Jabba Desilijic Tiure.
Every Roll Tells a Story
The core mechanic of Edge of the Empire is the skill check, which utilizes a pool of custom dice. No matter what task you undertake, you’ll roll a pool of “positive” and “negative” dice and compare their results. If your successes outnumber your failures, your character succeeds, but even successes may be loaded with myriad dramatic possibilities.
Edge of the Empire adds to the narrative impact of your skill checks with the addition of “advantage” and “threat” results. Your character may successfully repair the transfer circuits just in time for a dramatic jump to light-speed only to come out of hyperspace in the middle of an asteroid field. They may take a wrong turn into a dead-end alley while trying to outrun a pair of Gamorrean mercenaries but discover that the Gamorrean’s are susceptible to bribes. No matter the situation, skill checks do more than just resolve a single action; they help drive the story forward.
Star Wars: Edge of the Empire is a roleplaying game that captures the visionary essence of the Star Wars universe, while focusing on its grim and gritty corners. In control of a character exploring the Outer Rim, you'll do business in places where morality is gray and nothing is certain, living on the fringes of both the galaxy and its society. Thrust into adventures often finding yourselves facing any number of challenges, from repairing a damaged starship or slicing your way past a security panel to exchanging blaster fire with hired gunmen out to collect a bounty. With little law or order on the Outer Rim, you must rely on your innate abilities, trained skills, and special talents to survive.
